Known as one of the most important composers of current Portuguese music, Tiago Bettencourt presents his new album with a full line-up.
As the author of several important compositions of contemporary Portuguese music, it was more than ten years ago that he embarked on what would be his first studio adventure with Toranja, making an indelible mark on the Portuguese musical panorama.
The rich simplicity of his poems and melodies quickly captured the public's attention with the albums "Esquissos" and "Segundo". Unforgettable songs like "Carta" and "Laços" are inseparable from his remarkable voice. In 2006, Toranja announced a long break, and so Tiago voyaged to Canada. Having Mantha as a support band, he recorded the album "Jardim", produced by Howard Bilerman (producer of Arcade Fire's "Funeral"), released in 2007 with hits like "Canção Simples", "O Jogo", "O Lugar" and "O jardim".
Tiago Bettencourt's writing is always honest and transparent and seems to appeal to the most intimate parts of us, while making us stop and look at the world in a different way. Besides being a multi-instrumentalist, he is also a producer, having produced albums by Miúda, Katia Guerreiro, Raquel Tavares and Cláudia Pascoal (2020).
His contribution to Portuguese music is and always will be guided by his good taste, discernment and infinite respect for his language, even though it has always limited his chances of international recognition.
Tiago Bettencourt does not belong to any movement, nor to any current trend or style. His path is unique, independent, varied, coherent, and thus he has remained at the forefront of music sung in Portuguese for the last 20 years. Tiago Bettencourt released his last record in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, and is finally touring his seventh album of his lustrous career.
